Partial Dentures

Partial dentures help you look your best. A partial denture is a removable appliance used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. A partial denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position.

A partial denture offers other benefits as well. It balances your bite so you’ll chew better and have a healthier jaw joint. It aids your speech by providing support for your lips and cheeks. And it blends in with the natural tissues for a beautiful smile.

All partials are not created equal. For example, flexible partials are held in place by gum-colored clasps that fit comfortably around existing teeth. Another type of partial denture — a precision partial — includes precision-machined attachments that are fitted to your teeth. Because these attachments hide the clasps, they’re less visible.

With proper home care and regular checkups, your partial denture can provide a functional bite and a natural, beautiful smile.
